Frequently Asked Questions

How are the fine art prints produced?

My original watercolour paintings are scanned at the highest resolution and the digital file is then printed by a specialised Fine Art printing company who use the the Giclée process and top quality archival inks and paper.

The Giclée printmaking process does not use copper or aluminium plates like the traditional lithographic printing process. Instead, the image is sprayed onto the paper at the rate of one million droplets of ink per second giving an apparent visual resolution of over 1800 dpi (dots per inch).

This technique produces prints that have the remarkable colour saturation and continuous tone characteristics one would expect of an original painting. In fact, distinguishing a Giclée print from an original can be very difficult, even to the trained eye.

Can I have a fine art print made at a custom size?

Yes, most of the fine art prints can be printed and framed at any custom size up to around 50" x 70" or 127 x 177 cm. Use the contact form below to send us details of both the size and type of print you have in mind, and we'll get back to you with a no-obligation quote.

Do you offer alternative framing styles?

Our prints come in one style of frame, made of solid oak with a natural finish. This style suits both traditional and contemporary interiors alike. You can opt to buy the prints unframed and take them to your local framer to select a bespoke frame - or you can source and buy a ready-made frame yourself to fit the size.

Will my print fade over time?

Our archival quality Giclée prints retain their vivid colours for 40 years in daylight, and 200 years in correct storage in the dark.

Will an original watercolour painting fade over time?

Technological developments in watercolours over the past 20 years mean that the majority of watercolour pigments I use are no more likely to fade than oil paints. I always recommend that original paintings are framed with UV protective glass as well. So you can be confident your original painting will not fade in the slightest for generations.

Can I commission an original painting?

I do accept a few commissions each year (though less at the moment as I have two young children). For an idea of the sorts of prices for original paintings, see the originals page and then send my team a message with details of your proposal so, if I'm happy to take it on, I can provide you with a quote and timescale.

Is framing available for original watercolours?

My original watercolour paintings are sold unframed only. You will need to take the painting to your local framer to choose a frame that's right for your home. I can advise on framing if you wish.

Because we ship products large and small, heavy and light, and we deliver them worldwide, we can't offer flat rate shipping fees.

The delivery cost will be calculated in the cart once you enter a delivery address. It will be based on the price, number and type of items in your cart, as well as your location. This is the fairest way to keep shipping rates reasonable for all orders.

Will I have to pay import taxes?

Prints and phone cases are produced and shipped from within the UK, EU and US. If you live within one of these zones, your item will not need to be imported from overseas, and therefore you will not need to pay import tax on them.

Greetings cards are printed and shipped from the UK.

Depending on the rules where you live, your local authority might ask you to pay import tax on certain items. It is your responsibility as the buyer to be aware of this and to pay any import taxes requested by your local authority.

If we can help, we'll get back to you with a quote.

Can I learn to paint with you?

Yes! Over the past 10+ years, I've taught tens of thousands of people - including absolute beginners - to paint in my style.

Students find success with my approach to painting because I follow a methodical process which is easy to learn and follow independently.

You can find a huge library of video classes with me in my online school & community Nature Studio. And you can start by taking a free class with me.
